Mr. Robert David Lester, age 64, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Saturday (April 16, 2016) at his home. Born March 1, 1952 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Walker and Elizabeth Hess Lester. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Ball’s Chapel. He had formerly been employed by VDOT and as a truck driver for Williams Sanitation Service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Lester and Eugene Lester, one sister, Margie Pearl Lester, brother-in-law, Gormon “Bo” Ratliff, and sister-in-law, Terry Lester. Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Elizabeth Ann Lester of the home; one daughter, Valerie Sykes and husband, Jeff of Honaker; three grandchildren, Abigail Sykes, John Walker Sykes, and Zachery Sykes; three sisters, Carol Hart and husband, Buster of Honaker, Peggy Ratliff of Belfast, and Linda Cook of North Carolina; three brothers, James Lester and wife, Bea, Mike Lester, and Bill Lester and wife, Missy all of Honaker; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Wilma Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Stuart Memorial Cemetery on Kent’s Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Joe Ratliff, Chris Reedy, Dawson Reedy, Tim Stiltner, Jimmy Meadows, and Dylan Southern. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Hess, Zack Sykes and Tim Sykes. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
