Rosella M. Cookson, 94, of Decatur, IN passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at her residence. Rosie was born on April 9, 1922 in Decatur, IN to the late Charles and Mary (Hendricks) Affolder. On November 4, 1945 she married Darrel D. Cookson; he preceded her in death on April 21, 1969. Rosie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, a volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile and helped several organizations with the needy. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at G.E. and International Harvester. Rosie was an avid card player and loved dancing with her companion for 24 years, Ed Stucky. She dearly enjoyed gardening and never met a stranger. She is survived by her son, Denny (Karen) Cookson; two daughters, Sandy K. Springer and Vickie (Earl) Baker; a sister Florence Teeple all of Decatur; 6 grandchildren, Tara (Scott) Miller, Shane (Erin) Baker, Lucas (Maggie) Cookson, Tony (Stacy) Girod, Keith (Leah) Springer and Amy (Charles) Robinette; 6 great grandchildren, Maddux, Payton & Addison Miller, Kortney & Kaleb Springer, Boston Girod, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, John and Donald Affolder; a sister, Vera Spencer and son-in-law, Virgil Springer. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 also at the funeral home with Rev. Hal Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, OH. Memorials are to Family Life Care-Hospice or American Legion.
