Joseph M. Haney Obituary

Joseph M. Haney Sr., 88, of Pulaski, PA, passed away the afternoon of April 7, 2016 at Overlook Medical Clinic. Born on November 29, 1927 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Martin L. and Alice McCormick Haney. He was also preceded in death by his beloved and devoted wife of over 50 years, the former Phyllis Reid, whom passed away on January 3, 2002.


Joseph was self-employed as the owner of two Midas Muffler shops in New Castle and Austintown. He also was the owner of JM Haney Trucking Co. Inc. Joseph had served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II and Korean War Era, stationed in El Paso, TX and the Aleutian Islands. He had attended St. James the Apostle Church, and he also was a former member of St. Mary Church of Mary Mother of Hope Parish. For many years, Joseph enjoyed spending his winters in Naples, FL. He also loved fishing and spending time with his family gathering at "Shamrock", his family property and beloved piece of Paradise on Earth.


Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph M. Haney Jr. and wife Debbie of New Castle, Debbie Sammon and husband Sterling of Boardman, OH, and Kathy Sudetic and husband David of Austintown, OH; brothers, Edward Haney and wife Patricia and Kenneth Haney and wife Bobbie, all of New Castle; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eileen Meehan, Kathaleen Proch, and Marjorie Jenkins.


There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00am at St. James the Apostle Church, officiated by Father Larry Adams.


Entombment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum.


The family asks that memorial contributions be made in Joseph's honor to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St, Youngstown, OH 44512.
