James C. "Jim" Hensley Obituary

James C. "Jim" Hensley, age 85, 1735 Chestoa Pike, Erwin passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County. Jim was a son of the late William Farris and Bertha Lee Edwards Hensley. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Jim retired from Landmark Construction after twenty-seven years of service, where he was employed as a mechanic and equipment operator. He was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Jim was a member of the Erwin Centennial Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM where he served as Worshipful Master. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Earnest Hensley and one sister, Estelle Willis. Jim leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of sixty-four years, Mary E. Hensley; one daughter, Teresa Varela and husband, Rob; two sons: James G. Hensley, Jesse Hensley and wife, Angie; sister-in-law, Viola "Vee" Hensley; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate at the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Dean and Ginger Wilson. Pallbearers will be Paul Whitson, Walter Harris, Larry Anders, Roy Miller, Kenneth Shinn, Tyrrell Anders and Mike Anders. Committal service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Talmadge Brown will officiate. Family, ministers, pallbearers and friends are asked to meet by 1:30 P.M. at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel to go in procession to the cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post 4933.
