Mary G. Mottola, age 99, of Milford, beloved wife to James Vincent Mottola, passed away at home on April 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on April 1, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Tommaso and Vincenza Rutelli Mariconda. A true matriarch, Mary was the most devoted mother you could ever meet. She helped raise five generations in her family. Cherished wife to James for 77 years, they shared an everlasting love, as she was affectionately referred to as “My Mary.” Mary will be remembered for her excellent crocheting and how she used to make hats, blankets, and baby outfits for many. Along with her husband, she is survived by her children Carol Quirk of West Lebanon, NH, Gloria (Robert) Evick of Southbury, grandchildren, Daniel (Wendy) Quirk of Milford, James (Carolina) Quirk of Chicago, Michelle (Jim) Alvord of Southbury, Natalie (Lou) Arbelo of Stratford, great grandchildren, Christina, Connor, Caden, Tony, Michael, Amanda, Sophia, Carol, Christopher, Michael, Joseph, great great grandson Andrew, and siblings, Shirley Toth, Jean Guidone and Domenic Mariconda. Beside her parents, Mary was predeceased by five siblings. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 3 to 6 pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Prayer Service will take place at 5 pm during the visitation. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to Vitas Hospice, 99 Hawley Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
