Andrew Gibson

Andrew Paul Gibson, Sr., 69, of Shinnston, passed away at 11:32am, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in Morgantown, February 21, 1947, a son of the late, Ernest Dale and Josephine Pauline Powroznik Gibson. On May 31, 1969, he married Phyllis Cale Gibson who survives. Also surviving are one son, Andrew Paul Gibson, Jr., Shinnston, one daughter, Shannon Lopez and her husband Shawn, Shinnston, six grandchildren, Kaylee and Emily Gibson, Kiersten, Kylea, Collin, and Adalynn Lopez, one brother, Joseph Gibson and his wife Carole, Colonial Heights, VA, one sister, Monica Gibson, Morgantown, his mother-in-law, Dolly Cale, Masontown, WV, nieces and nephews, Robert Dale Gibson, Michele Harris and her husband Brett and their daughter, Sarah Harris, and Kristen Perkinson and her husband Scott. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thurman Cale. Mr. Gibson was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. He retired from Montgomery Ward where he was a refrigeration repair technician with 25 years service. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, the outdoors, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Tuesday where funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 6, with Pastor Robert Ringer officiating. Interment will be in the WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown, where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Friends of Pittsburgh Fisher House at www.e-giving.org/friendsofpghfisherhouse or 3945 Forbes Ave., P.O. Box 240 Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
