Geraldine Alice Wilson, Age 87 of Manistee died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. She was born on December 14, 1928 in Manistee, the daughter of the late Milton A. & Alice M. (Walstrom) Wilson. She was a graduate of Manistee High School Class of 1947 and the Hurley School of Nursing in Flint in 1950. She served as a United States Army Nurse from 1955 to 1958. A Registered Nurse for 40 years, she was employed locally at Mercy Community Hospital and retired from the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Life Member of the Order of Eastern Star, and attended the Manistee United Methodist Church. Geraldine enjoyed dogs (poodles), birds, and loved all outdoor activities. She is survived by three sisters; Gertrude Elaine Diesing and Mary (Connie) Grenell both of Manistee and Rae (Marvin) Yonker of Coopersville, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by and infant brother; William, a sister; Frances M. Johnson-Crowell, and three brothers-in-law. Visitation for Geraldine will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee. Burial will follow Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Party will be held at a later date. Memorials in Geraldine’s name may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
