Florence Marie Short, age 66 of Manistee, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 30, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 30, 1949 in Adrian, daughter of the late Marion and Helen (Scott) Partridge. Florence married Hillary Jack Short on July 6, 1989 in Adrian. Florence worked as a cook at Green Acres for many years. She was a member of the New Life Tabernacle Church in Manistee. Florence enjoyed spending time with family, collecting angles, cooking and watching the ships come through the Manistee River Channel. Florence is survived by her husband, Hillary Jack Short; daughter, Maida Cross; 2 sons, Robert Cross and Matthew (Paula) Cross all of Manistee; 4 grandchildren, Gwendolyn, John, Quinn and Tiffani; great-granddaughter, Ava Mae; sister, Barbara (Larry) Flanagin of Adrian, Betty Partridge of Manistee and Bethany Bovee of Adrian; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jonathon Cross; and brothers, Clinton and Jeffrey Partridge. Funeral services for Florence will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday February 4, 2016 at the New Life Tabernacle Church in Manistee with Pastor Alto Goodspeed officiating. Burial will take place at 12:30PM on Friday February 5, 2016 at West Madison Cemetery in Adrian. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee from 4:00 till 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Florence may be directed to the New Life Tabernacle Church of Manistee.
