Elizabeth Golliday Obituary

To God be the glory! Elizabeth Ann Wine Golliday of Winchester, Virginia passed from this life into her eternal home in heaven into the arms of Jesus Christ, her beloved Savior, on February 3, 2016. She was born of the late Rev. J. Floyd Wine and Ruth W. Wine on January 19, 1948. She accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was 9 years old and was baptized by her father. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior guided her life. Elizabeth Ann married William (“Bil”) F. Golliday, the love of her life, on January 3, 1970 on his 25th birthday. Their daughter, Amy Elizabeth Golliday, was born on December 9, 1974 and has been a great joy to her parents. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Bil, daughter Amy, brother John Robert Wine (Barbara), niece Christina Wine King (Joshua), nephews Robert (“Robbie”) Wine and Joshua. Elizabeth Ann was a member of Calvary Church of the Brethren, where she grew up with her father as pastor. She was a member of the Women of the Word (“WOW”) Bible Study group and was an active church member all her life. She graduated from Alexandria School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in the early 1970s. Some part time work included selling Avon and Tupperware, working as an Administrative Assistant in Blue Ridge Hospice in the 1980s (when there were only 2 paid positions) and receptionist/secretary for ABBA Pregnancy Care Center. Most of all, Elizabeth Ann enjoyed being a fulltime wife and mother. Family and friends were very important in her life. She and Bil have maintained friendships with two other couples for all of their married life and have enjoyed camping together for over 30 years. Elizabeth Ann has enjoyed a friendship and taking trips with two other ladies for over 25 years. Elizabeth Ann hosted an annual Christmas Open house for their neighbors for many of the last 28 years. In recent years, Elizabeth enjoyed her WOW women’s Bible study group and reconnecting with some ladies of her high school class who met monthly for dinner. Special thanks to Dr. Bill Houck, Jr. and all the staff at Shenandoah Oncology, especially nurses Deanna, Nancy and Angela, and Linda, the lab tech who took care of her the most, and the staff at Blue Ridge Hospice. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, February 5, 6-8 pm at Calvary Church of the Brethren on Front Royal Road in Winchester. A memorial service will be at the church on Saturday, February 6 at 11 am with a meal following. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.
