Sharlene Bauman

Sharlene M. Bauman, 79, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Adams Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 5, 1936 in Decatur, Indiana to the late James W. Murphy and Catherine A. (Schumacher) Murphy. On August 21, 1954, she married Carl D. Bauman; he preceded her in death on February 12, 1992. She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Women of St. Mary’s, and was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. In 1974, she served as Recording Secretary for the Rosary Society and she was also a Secretary for the Liturgy Committee. She graduated from Decatur Catholic High School in 1954 with honors. She was employed with the City of Decatur Parking Control from 1972 – 2004. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose. Sharlene is survived by 5 sons, Fr. Dale A. Bauman, Roanoke, IN; Ronald J. (Yolanda) Bauman, Decatur, IN; Michael D, (Diana) Bauman, Decatur, IN; Daniel L. (Heather Hebble) Bauman, Decatur, IN; Eric D. (Kimberly) Bauman, Convoy, OH; 1 daughter Elizabeth A. “Sis” (Gilbert) Nelson, Decatur, IN; 1 brother Robert J. (Linda) Murphy, Decatur, IN; 1 sister Mary Catherine Warner, Ft Wayne, IN; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. David Voors and burial will take place in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Masses or to St. Joseph Catholic School.
