Mary Ohl Obituary

Mary Rosaline Ohl, died peacefully on January 28, 4 days from her 98th birthday. Born February 1, 1918, to Harry F and Augusta M Ohl of Lehighton, PA, she was a graduate of Jamestown, Packerton, and Lehighton High schools. She graduated with her RN from Mt Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1942. She became a Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corps from 1942-1945 in England and Europe. She served aboard the 24th Hospital Train, transporting wounded men from medical field tents to Army Hospitals, in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, including the Battle of the Bulge. Her train was strafed and shelled multiple times. After VE Day in Paris, she returned to the US where she worked until her retirement from the VA Hospital in 1981. She has traveled widely, and has lived in Coatesville, PA, Big Bear Lake, CA, Parker, CO, Elverson, PA, Quakertown, PA, and Athens, GA. She loved playing sports, raising German Shepherd dogs, riding motorcycles, and owning her 1970 Oldsmobile 442 pace car. She enjoyed home improvement, gardening, photography, and bowling. She was known for her strong work ethic, willingness to help, and generosity. She is so sadly missed. She is predeceased by her parents, and siblings: Gladys G Beers, Chester R Ohl, Curtis D Ohl, and Robert F Ohl. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth L, wife of Vernon Garon of Parker, CO, and 10 nieces and nephews. Services: Memorial Service, February 23, 2016, 11am, friends and family are welcome to call beginning at 10am at Falk Funeral Home, Pennsburg, PA.
