George Monck

George C. Monck, age 83, of Woodbridge passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 25, 2016. He was the widower of his two late wives Louise Terrill Monck and Naiomi Stanton Monck. Born in New Haven on January 15, 1933 to the late Walter and Agnes Allen Monck, he lived in Orange for most of his life. George was an avid NASCAR fan and loved anything with a motor that went fast. In his earlier years, he drove a racecar and used to race car #222 at the Savin Rock Speedway. An active member of the community, George was a proud Shriner and one of the founders initiating the return of the Orange Country Fair in 1975. George enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling and his pets. George will be remembered as a wonderful father and grandfather, proudly displaying his family’s pictures throughout his house. He is survived by his dedicated son Kevin (Sarah) Monck of Orange; cherished grandchildren, Connor John Monck and Samantha Leigh Monck; siblings, Kathleen (Joseph) Tirollo, Richard (Susan) Monck and Marie Schebell. George was predeceased by his siblings Walter Monck and Alice Reynolds. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caretakers of Griswold Homecare. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society (800) 227-2345. Calling hours are Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held at the Orange Congregational Church at 10am on Saturday, January 30, 2016. Meet directly at church. Burial will be in Orange Center Cemetery.
