James Bentz

James A. “Tony” Bentz, 56, of Decatur, IN, passed away at his residence in the early morning on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He was born on December 22, 1959 in Decatur to Francis H. and Arlene R. (Dersch) Bentz. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864. He worked as an assembler for Fleetwood RV in Decatur. Tony is survived by his mother, Arlene R. Bentz of Decatur; a daughter, Heather M. (fiancé, Ben Fairchild) Bentz; a son, Brandon J. Bentz; a grandson, Easton M. Hackman all of Decatur; 2 brothers, Dennis L. (Carol) Bentz and Alan A. Bentz both of Decatur; 3 sisters, Deborah A. (Dennis) Covington of Dillsboro, IN, Jayne M. (Todd) Swygart of Decatur, and Amy S. (Steve) Buuck, Ft. Wayne. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Natasha E. Bentz; his father, Francis H. “Smoke” Bentz; 2 brothers, Richard and Robert Bentz. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with calling 1 hour prior from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Voors will be officiating and burial will take place in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or to the A.C.C.F. Angel Cancer Fund.
