Michael E. Baka, 73, of Shenango Township, passed away the evening of January 22, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside. Born on November 23, 1942 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Michael Baka and Caroline Bruno Baka Newton. On September 29, 1962, he married his beloved wife, the former Diane J. Myers, and the two spent over 50 years together until she preceded him in death on December 3, 2012.

After 34 years of working, Michael retired as the Maintenance Supervisor for Calgon Corporation. He was a member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church. Michael was a member of the Ellwood City Masonic Lodge #599, F&AM, and he enjoyed hunting, riding his horses, and roping.

Michael is survived by his children, Michael J. Baka and wife Christina and Mark E. Baka and wife Vickie, all of New Castle, and grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Mikayla, and Blake. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Leonard (Scoof) Newton, and grandparents, Frank and Anna Bruno.

Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be conducted Monday at 5:30pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Julia Williamson.

Interment will take place in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Cemetery.
