John Lee Hunter passed away January 13th, 2016 at his home. John was born July 4, 1950 and was 65 at the time of his passing.

Graveside services with military honors are planned for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19th, 2015 at Idlewilde Cemetery. Viewing is scheduled for Monday, January 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031.

John was born in Madera, California to John V. and Marie (Lemmons) Hunter. He was raised by his father in Washington and Oregon they traveled working in the orchards and picking fern. At age 17 he was signed into the Marine Corps by his father. John did two tours in Vietnam, by 19 he had made Sergeant. After his honorable discharge in 1970 John returned to California where he met his soulmate and got into the logging industry, running a grapel skidder.

In 1986 John moved back to Oregon and he started his ten year career at Hanel Lumber Mill.

John loved hunting, fishing, camping and everything outdoors. He loved being in the mountains and telling stories.

John is survived by his wife, Debbie Hunter; six children, JD, Eddie, Jason, Jeremy, Jarrod & Dawneva; twenty-one grandchildren; two great grandsons; two brothers, James and Jerry; two sisters, Shirley and Carla; countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Vernon and Don and sister; Chris.
