Harvey R. Yokes, 79, of Palmyra, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Meadville on December 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Harold Yokes husband of the late Madeline L. Yokes.

A very hard worker, Harvey was a Certified Welding Inspector for Pennoni Associates in the Philadelphia area. He graduated from Meadeville Area High School; and received a NACE Level II inspection certification and a Level 4 Ultrasound Across the Board inspection certification. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Harvey was a member of the American Welding Society. He found enjoyment and relaxation in gardening.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen L. Staley Yokes whom he married on December 31, 1981; two sons, Douglas A. Shoemaker of Palmyra, and David W. Shoemaker of Halifax; and his beloved Chihuahuas, Tucker and Teddy.

He was preceded in death by his loving Chihuahua, Rowdy.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Chaplain Bryce Stone, of Compassionate Care Hospice, officiating. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Gardens, Annville. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing in the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until time of the service.
