John I. Herr, Sr., 80, of Edinburg, PA, passed away the evening of January 5, 2016 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on January 5, 1936 in Rockland, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Ruth Crate Herr. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of over 58 wonderful years, the former Donna Jean Fusco, whom he married on June 22, 1957.

John had worked as a mechanic and retired as the owner of Herr's Auto Repair in Edinburg, PA which he operated for 35 years. He was a member of Christ the King Parish. John loved going to antique and classic car shows and watching sports, especially wrestling. He also enjoyed playing solitaire, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Rick Herr of Edinburg, PA, Darlene Wetzel and husband Doug of Edinburg, PA, John Herr Jr. and wife Jennifer of New Castle, and Brian Herr and wife Diane of New Castle; sister, Ruth Davis of Enon Valley, PA; grandchildren, Jessica Wilkerson and husband Daniel, Jason Wetzel and wife Taylor, Justin Wetzel, Amber Herr, Jacqueline Herr, Ian Herr, Robert Herr, and Alexandra Herr; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Joseph, James, David, and Raymond Herr; infant sister, Vernie Herr; and sister, Regina Shaffer.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Blessing services will be conducted Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon John Carran.

Interment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
