<p>Harry F. Hart. Jr., 95, of Hummelstown, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center with his loving family by his side. </p><p> Born in Greene, NY, on April 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Harry F. Sr. and Ruth Aiken Hart.</p><p> Harry was a Jet Engine Mechanic retiring from the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown, and working for American Flyers Airlines. He also retired from the Maintenance Department of the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Harry was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He formerly attended Fishburn United Methodist Church, Hershey. Harry was an avid hiker who had hiked the complete Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and for many years he maintained the Rausch Gap Shelter in Pennsylvania. Harry was an active member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and the Green Mountain Club, Long Trail, Vermont; and was a former member of the Hershey Coin Club. In addition to hiking and coin collecting, he read extensively and enjoyed watching sports. Most important to Harry was spending time with and encouraging his children and grandchildren to follow their dreams.</p><p> Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Decker Hart, on December 20, 2007; and two sisters, Nora Giammichele and Caroline Stone. </p><p>He is survived by two daughters, Joyce H. Derer wife of William J. of Reading, and Susan H. Lilly of Hummelstown; two sons, David F. Hart husband of Nancy of Elizabethtown, and Michael L. Hart of Greene, NY; one brother, Charles Hart husband of Rita of Port Ritchey, FL; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.</p><p> A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 1:00 PM in the Trefz &amp; Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Craig Maart, of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, officiating. A private interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon until time of the services. </p><p>In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Moore Memorial Library Building Fund, 50 Genesee Street, Greene, NY 13778; or to the Missionary Aviation Repair Center, PO Box 511, Soldotna, AK 99669.
