Elsie May Elve of Watrous, SK passed away peacefully on December 2, 2015 at Manitou Lodge in Watrous. Elsie was born January 2, 1920 at her parents farm near Evesham, SK to Walter and Ruth Smith. She attended Normal School in Saskatoon and went on to teach for three years in one room school houses ending up at Eltham School near Plunkett, Sk. Here she met and married her husband Albert Elve of Plunkett, SK on September 1, 1943. She and her husband farmed near Plunkett and raised three children; Lynne , Barry and David . While enjoying her farming life she also added crafts, gardening and knitting/ tatting to her repertoire of hobbies. Elsie is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Ruth Smith, brothers Walter and Leonard Smith, and sisters Viola Etienne, and Rosetta Holland as well as her husband Albert Elve. Left to mourn her passing are her sisters, Margaret MacKay , Miriam Campbell and brother Vernon ( Alice) Smith; her children Lynne ( Myles ) Thurlow, Barry ( Susan) Elve and David ( Carol) Elve; her grandchildren Chandra Thurlow, Charles ( Kyly ) Thurlow and her great grandchildren, Xander Thurlow and Jetahl Thurlow.

There will be no funeral at her request. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Many thanks go out to the exceptional love and care given to Mom over the years from an outstanding Watrous HomeCare Team followed by her yet another outstanding team of Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, RN's , LPN's, CCA's, Activity Dept, Kitchen Staff and Housekeeping Staff of the WDHC / Manitou Lodge . Thank you to ALL who went above and beyond to make her later years feel like she was in her own home even though she thought it was " a very nice hotel" and always said " I'm doing the best I know how!"

For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan or the Watrous Community Health Foundation would be appreciated.
