Russell Lawson Iron Hawk, Sr. was born on May 5, 1928 in Grass Creek, SD to Louis and Jessie (Ice) Iron Hawk. Russell entered the Spirit World on November 28, 2015 in Rapid City, SD.

Russell is survived by his sons, Gaylord Iron Hawk and Myron Iron Hawk both of Wounded Knee, SD and Lawson Iron Hawk, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Carmelita Iron Crow and Geraldine Charging Crow both of Kyle, SD; 58 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Jessie Iron Hawk; spouses, Jane (Janis) Iron Hawk and Agnes (Red Breath Bear) Iron Hawk; daughters, Katherine (Iron Hawk) Belile and Charlene Iron Hawk; son, Michael Iron Hawk; and sister, Claudia (Iron Hawk) Sully.
