Bruce Richard Masse

Bruce Richard Masse, age 83 of Ludington passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at his daughter’s home.
He was born on October 20, 1932 in Grand Marais, MI, son of the late John Richard and Anna (Thompson) Masse. Bruce attended school in Grand Marais. He then enlisted the United States Air Force and served his country proudly until his honorable discharge.
Bruce married Geraldine Walker on April 20, 1957 in Charlevoix, MI. Bruce worked for the C & O Railroad/Carferry and later the Lake Michigan Carferry. He started off as a dishwasher and worked his way up to being captain. Bruce retired from Lake Michigan Carferry at the end of the season in 2000.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ludington. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine Masse of Ludington; 3 sons, Donald Masse of Ludington, Richard Masse of Manistee and Russell Masse of Ludington; 3 daughters, Deborah (Franklin) Nord, Rhonda (Paul) Babcock and Suzanna (Kevin) Castonia all of Ludington; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally (Carl) Cleaver of Pekin, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents; brother, James Masse; and sister, Joyce Bezotte.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday November 28, 2015 at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington with Pastors Tom Thomas and Kent Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00AM until time of service. Burial with Military Honors by the Ludington American Legion Post 76 will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington.
