Richard is survived by his spouse, Sharlene (Black Bear) May of Allen, SD; son, Rick May of Martin, SD; daughter, Alicia (Greg) Stolley of Chadron, NE; step-mother, Viola Wangberg of Tucson, AZ; brother, Bob (Barb) May of Brandon, SD; sisters, Kathy (Danny) Brenden of Tucson, AZ and Ruth Brende of Cambridge, MN; and grandchildren, Bryan “Bubba” Stolley, Peyton “PJ” Stolley, Jesse Stolley, Josie May, Baily May, and Sophia May.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy (Volkert) May; son, Bryan May; step-father, Ole Wangberg; and brothers, Raymond May, Martin May, Kenny Wangberg, and James Wangberg.
