Joan L. Lemke, 61, of Atchison KS died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 25th, 2015 at the Corpus Christi Church, Mooney Creek. Burial will follow in the Corpus Christi Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 24th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to Canine Assistance & Rehabilitation Education Services or Corpus Christi Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Joan was born on December 14, 1953 in Atchison Kansas the daughter of Howard and Bessie (Ingels) Ricketts. She attended grade school and high school in Nortonville. Joan worked as a farm wife, continuing managing the farm after her husband Alan’s death. She also raised cattle, owned and operated the Lemke’s Golden Hill Kennel for over 25 years, and owned and operated Lemke’s Machine Quilting over 25 years. Joan was the grounds keeper for Corpus Christi Cemetery for 25 years, and former 4-H Project Leader for Dogs for the Lucky Clover 4-H Club. Joan was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Mooney Creek where she served on the Altar Society. Her greatest joys in her life were her grandchildren and they knew and called her “Grandma John Deere”.

She was married to Alan Lemke on Sept. 21st, 1968. Alan preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1993. She was later married to David Lemke on June 17, 1995. David also preceded her in death on Jan. 18th, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Richard A. (Michelle) Lemke, and Robert (Shelly) Lemke, both of Atchison KS, two daughters, Cynthia (Jason) Wohlgemuth, Easton, KS, Crystal Gilliland and fiancé – Jeremy Lanter, Effingham, KS., two brothers, Jimmy Ricketts, Holton, KS., and George Ricketts, Ozawkie, KS., sister, Sarah Toy, Valley Falls, KS., eight grandchildren and companion Bill Wells, Meriden, KS. Her parents, and both husbands preceded her in death.
