Ruthanne Charette Obituary

Millinocket – Ruthanne (Matthews) Charette, 50, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 21, 2015 at a Millinocket hospital. She was born July 27, 1965 in Millinocket, the daughter of Addison and Susan (Russell) Matthews, Jr.

Ruthanne grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1984. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Medical Transcription. Ruthanne worked for several medical providers, in New Jersey, Colorado, Maine, and most recently at Penobscot Valley Dermatology Assistants. She loved taking pictures, and enjoyed knitting, quilting and reading. Ruthanne was a free spirit, and will be remembered by her family as a talented gardener and cook, especially when she was able to can her own produce and prepare large meals. She also spent many enjoyable hours cross country skiing, camping, and enjoying nature. The highlight of Ruthanne’s world was spending time with her granddaughter, Chloe Achorn, whom she frequently told “I love you to the moon and back, forever and ever, no matter what!” Ruthanne will be missed dearly by her many family and friends, but will be owed a debt of gratitude to the unknown lives she touched by her final act of kindness in being a donor to the New England Organ Bank.

In addition to her parents of Millinocket, Ruthanne is survived by two sons, Tyler Matthews and his wife Amanda, and Garrett Charette and his girlfriend Rhonni Mills, all of Millinocket; her granddaughter, Chloe Achorn of Millinocket; a brother, Addison Matthews, III and his wife, Kristen of Millinocket; a sister, Debra Plourde and her husband John of Levant; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be especially missed by her two best friends Roxanne Morneault of Millinocket and JR Ley of Colorado, and many others, too many to list. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Mark and Verna Russell, and Bertha and Addison Matthews.

A celebration of Ruthanne’s life will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 1-4 P.M. at the home of Ruthanne’s parents, 91 Knox St., Millinocket. Gifts in memory of Ruthanne may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.
