John Francis O'Connor Obituary

John Francis O’Connor, 72, of Camden Point, MO, passed away, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza, Kansas City, MO.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Ave., Atchison, KS. Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Weston, MO. Family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in honor of John are suggested to the American Cancer Society. John was born on January 2, 1943 in Buckner, MO, the son of Paul Toal and Florene (Sharp) O’Connor. John graduated from Humphrey’s (MO) High School and upon graduation, served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. John had worked as a truck driver for D.J. Transfer of Kansas City, KS; Union Pacific Railroad at their Intermodal Facility in Kansas City, MO; and then for the Clay County Parks & Recreation Department at Smithville (MO) Lake. John was a member of Local 41 Teamsters, Kansas City, MO. John enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, fishing, walking his dog, Maggie, and just being outdoors.

John and Rebecca ‘Becky’ Marie Goodpaster were married on November 28, 1969 in Iatan, MO. Survivors include John’s wife of forty-six years, Becky, of the home; two sons, Tim O’Connor, Kansas City, MO and Shawn O’Connor, Dearborn, MO; brother, Bill O’Connor, Milan, MO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Sharon Cornwell and a sister at birth.
