Thelma L. Beck

Millinocket and Portland – Thelma L. Beck, wife of the late A. Freeman Beck, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Island Falls, the daughter of Clifford and Margaret (Stairs) Seymour.<br><br>Thelma graduated from Stearns High School in Millinocket and stayed home with her three daughters until going to work at Montgomery Ward. When her husband retired from Great Northern Paper Co. she also retired.<br><br>Thelma loved life and lived it to the fullest. Early on she was in musicals in Millinocket, square danced and clogged with her husband, was a cheerleader in Lady Lake, FL., and loved to ice skate. Up until her seventies she slalom water skied at her camp that she built with her husband. <br><br>Thelma was very talented. She made her own clothes for dancing, she made baskets, and made divinity fudge at Christmas Time to give to friends.<br><br>She loved her Lord, read her Bible everyday, and attended Baptist Church at least once a week.<br><br>She loved writing checks to give all of her family in cards. She never missed one occasion for doing this.<br><br>Thelma is survived by three daughters, Judy Linscott and her husband John of Portland, Debbie Daniels and her husband Joe of Millinocket, and Tricia True and her husband Rob of Belgrade; three grandchildren, Kenneth Vincent, III and his wife Liz, Rachel McGrath and Matt Lorenz, Darrin Daniels and his wife Jenny; 5 great grandchildren, Chas Cirame, Tiffanie Daniels, Margaret Vincent, William Vincent, and Harper Daniels; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Thelma was predeceased by three sisters, Vivian Haseltine, Muriel Hamm, and Barbara Burleigh, a granddaughter, Linda Kinney.<br><br>Memorial services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, November 20 at the Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Avenue, Millinocket with the Rev. Tim Bossie, pastor, officiating. Gifts in memory of Thelma may be sent to the Millinocket Baptist Church Memorial Fund, (address), Millinocket, ME 04462.<br>
