Daniel Wilson Alger, 67, of Frederick County, VA, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on November 17, 2015.
Daniel Alger was born on January 16, 1948 to the late Frank Alger and Beulah Jenkins. He married Darlene Swartz on August 20, 1966. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his sons. He was also a member of the Izaak Walton League where he loved to fish and enjoy the outdoors. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie 824 of Winchester, VA for 14 years.
He worked as a brick mason for over 40 years. He was a devoted and loving son, husband and father.
He is survived by his sons, Daniel Alger Jr and his fiancé Susan Abe of Winchester, VA, Dennis Alger and his wife Holly Alger of Stephens City, VA, his daughters Marsha Wallace and her husband Randy Wallace of Frederick County, VA and Bonnie Gail Scruggs and her husband Keith Scruggs of Winchester, VA. He is also survived by his brother, Melvin Alger, two sisters, Ann Matthews and Louise Barrett; two granddaughters, Tiffany Omps, daughter of Daniel Alger Jr, and Kynnlee Alger, daughter of Dennis and Holly Alger.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Darlene, who passed away on December 25, 2000.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester with Rev. Bobby Basham officiating. Burial will follow in Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ridgeway, WV.
Pallbearers will be Brian Ganey, Jerry Mills, Matt Matthews, Billy Linaweaver, Charles Luttrell and Russ Luttrell.
