David Martin Epler Obituary

David Martin Epler, 79, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015, in New York.
Born in Middletown on May 9, 1936, he was the son of the late John H. and Catherine E. Martin Epler.
Dave was a carpenter for B & G Lumber Company, Inc., Elizabethtown. He was a 1954 graduate of Hershey High School. He was an U.S. Army veteran. Dave was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Conewago Rod & Gun Club, Elizabethtown, and bowled in various leagues at Clearview Lanes, Mount Joy. Dave loved being in the mountains; hunting and fishing at the family cabin in English Center and helping with his son Todd’s yearly fishing derby in Brookside. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Ann Fisher Epler, whom he married on December 7, 1968; his two sons, Todd M. Epler husband of Joy of Elizabethtown, and Timothy D. Epler of Collegeville; his two daughters, Tina R. Gray wife of Anthony G. of Elizabethtown, and Tara L. Campbell wife of Todd J. of Harrisburg; his two sisters, June Hippensteel and Anna Epler both of Elizabethtown; his brother, Frank Epler husband of Suzy of Middletown; and his seven grandchildren, Paige Epler, Cole Epler, Jaide Epler, Gavin Gray, Mackenzie Gray, Gage Gray, and Wyatt Campbell.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his daughter, Trisha M. Epler in August of 1978.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment with military honors will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Viewings will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be given in memory of Dave to the American Heart/Stroke Association, Capital Region, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
