Lucy J. Bower Obituary

Lucy Junkin Bower, 82, of the Spring Creek Care Center, and formerly of Lewisburg and Williamsport, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015, in the home.
Born in Mahoning Township on October 2, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Edward and Ann Sullivan Junkin.
Lucy was an Elementary School Teacher before becoming a devoted homemaker and taught piano lessons. She graduated from the former West Chester State College with a Bachelor’s of Music, and in 1955 received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the former Lock Haven State College. Lucy had attended the South Williamsport Church of Christ. She will always be remembered as a humorist along with being a singer and writer. Lucy enjoyed calling and writing notes to her friends and family. She was known for love and compassion and her deep love of Jesus and His Word.
Lucy was preceded in death by her two husbands, Glenn Eugene Peters and Ralph Barnie Bower, and a sister, Jean Junkin.
She is survived by her son, John E. Peters husband of Lynn M. of Harrisburg; and two grandsons, Edward Nathaniel Peters and Andrew Bryce Peters both of Harrisburg.
A celebration of Lucy’s life will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Noon in the Living Water Community Church, 206 Oakleigh Avenue, Harrisburg, with The Rev. Michael Leonzo and The Rev. Ben Maxi officiating. A visitation will be held in the church from 11 AM until time of the service.
Another celebration of Lucy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2 PM in the South Williamsport Church of Christ, 358 East Central Avenue, South Williamsport, with Minister James Solomon officiating.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in memory of Lucy to the Living Water Community Church, 206 Oakleigh Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17111, for their Compassion Fund.
