James McLean Obituary

Millinocket- James McLean, 93, passed away November 2, 2015 at the Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born to the late William and Matilda (Barnett) McLean.
Jim attended school in Millinocket and worked for the Great Northern Paper Co for a time. He met and married the love of his life and best friend, Pauline Runnells. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the US and then in The European Theater of Operation. After coming home from Europe, he continued to work for The Great Northern Paper Company for 45 years, retiring in 1983. He was Shop Steward for Local Union 567 of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Jim was elected many times as a representative for the Union to negotiate contracts at the conferences in Bangor. He was also a life member of the VFW in Millinocket, member of Pheeney Groves Post 13, and the DAV American Legion.
His favorite pastime after returning was fly fishing at Nesowadnehunk Lake with Pauline and his grandchildren as well as doing odd jobs at the campground.
Jim was a member of the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket and served many terms on the Board of Deconate and the Board of Trustees. He was also on the Board of Trustees for the Ben Fiske Foundation. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Planning Board of East Millinocket.
Jim is survived by his wife of 72 years, Pauline McLean; three grandchildren, Crissa Farr of Naples, ME, Manny Condon and wife Kelly of Cato, NY, and James McLean and wife Lynn of Rocky Hill, CT; great grandchildren, Ryan James of Lewiston, ME, Jessica Baker and husband Michael of Easley, SC, Taylor Ann, Morgan Elizabeth and Riley Marguerite McLean of Rocky Hill, CT, and Lindsey and Julia Condon of Cato, NY; great, great grandchildren, Katelyn and Camden Baker of Easley, SC; a sister, Nadine “Dimpy” Doe, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by his son, James E. McLean; three sisters, Dorothy Pound, Margaret Nickless, and Ruth Comeau; and three brothers, Clayton, William, and Richard McLean.
The family wants to thank Dr. Herbert, nurses and caregivers for all their compassionate care while Jim was in the hospital. They were great.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 5:30 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, November 7, 2015 from at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave, East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 1:00pm at the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket, 11 Maple St, East Millinocket. Interment with military honors will be held at the East Millinocket cemetery following. Gifts in memory of Jim may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O.
