Vernell Welch Gibson 89 of Demopolis, passed away Oct. 31,2015, at Marengo Nursing Home. Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 3, 2015 at First United Methodist in Demopolis with Dr. Art Luckie officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial will follow in Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 at the church.

She was born June 28,1926, in Ward, Al., to Lee and Cordelia McIwain Welch.

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Warren Gibson; sons, Richard and David Chapman; sister, Mattie Lee Stallings; brother, Thomas Welch.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hagarty; sons, Bobby (Becky) Gibson and John Gibson; sister, Frances McMillian; brother, Don Welch; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Bowling, Eddie Cowen, Tim Cross, Marshall Gibson, John Gibson, Dan Gibson, Bill Gibson and Joe Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers are the staffs of the Marengo Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice.
