Gerald Wayne Leh Obituary

Gerald W. Leh Sr., 93, of Manor Care, Pottstown, and formerly of Bally, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Forsyth) Leh. The couple celebrated 70 years of marriage in July 2012. Born in Barto, he was a son of the late Wayne and Anna (Lapp) Leh. He was a graduate of Boyertown High School. Gerald served as a sergeant in the Army during WWII in Europe and Northern Africa. He was employed, first by the former Reading Railroad for 20 years, and then by the former Bally Case & Cooler for 23 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working as a sales associate for Schell Memorials, East Greenville. Gerald was a dedicated member of the Hereford Mennonite Church, Bally, where he was a former choir member, Sunday School teacher and deacon. He was a volunteer ambulance driver and delivered Meals-on-Wheels for 20 years. Gerald enjoyed working in his garden, going to the Reading Phillies, speaking Pennsylvania Dutch, telling jokes, and model railroading.

He was beloved by his daughter Joan A. Weiss, of Boyertown; and cherished by 8 grandchildren: Tami, Suzette, Matthew, Michele, Melinda, Todd, Andrew, and Jacob; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his sons, Gerald Jr. and Dr. David Leh; and sisters: Marie Stein, Agnes Hess, and Cevilla Hoffman.

Funeral Services will be on Sunday, Nov 1, at 1:30 PM at the Butter Valley Community Church (formery Hereford Mennonite Church), 2600 Old Route 100, Bally. Viewing from 12:30 until services. Interment will follow at Hereford Mennonite Cemetery. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg, has been entrusted with arrangements.
