Joan L. Hicks

Joan L. Hicks, 75, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital. She was born on February 2, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Francis A. and Doris M. (Wagner) Sheehan. On June 27, 1970, she married Dwaine R. Hicks. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was also in the Rosary Society. She worked as a housewife. Joan is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dwaine R. Hicks of Decatur; a daughter, Kimberly J. Allen of Decatur; a granddaughter, Alexis L. Allen; a great-granddaughter, Ryker L. Allen both of Decatur; 5 sisters, Pat Pudik of Aliquippa, PA, Mari Barber of Mercer, PA, Betty (Bill) Gaguzis of Allison Park, PA, Barbara (George) Parker of Tarentum, PA, and Kathy (Joe) Bursick of Allison Park, PA. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Jim Sheehan and a sister, Jean Zilka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall (due to church renovation) with visitation 2 hours prior from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Father Jose Panamattathil, V.C. will be presiding and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. Arrangements by Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur, IN.
