William “Harold” Owens, 80, of Shinnston, passed away at 9:40am, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in New Martinsville, WV. He was born in Wyatt, March 6, 1935 a son of the late Harry Owens and Genevieve Goff Owens. Twice married, Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Marie Martin Owens, and is survived by his second wife, Sherry Loretta Ott Owens. Also surviving are two daughters, Polly Hager and her husband Roger, Shinnston, Pam Fox and her husband James, Wellington, OH, daughter-in-law, Tina Owens, step-daughter, Brenda Bragg and her husband Randy, eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great great- grandchildren, one brother, James Owens, three nieces and four nephews. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Longwell, one son, SGM Daniel A. Owens, granddaughter, Stephanie Drummond, great-grandchildren, William Andrew Owens and Whitney Hager, two sisters, Delores Bowman and Sandy Oberacker. Mr. Owens was a coal miner having worked at several mines including Williams Mine, and Robinson Run Mine from which he retired with 40 years in the mining industry. He was a member of the Charity Baptist Church, Oakdale. He enjoyed antique cars and loved going to car shows. He also enjoyed guns and pin knives. The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Friday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 17 with Pastors Dan Adkins and Charles Hart officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made for fallen soldiers to the WV Gold Star Foundation, 1679 Coon Skin Dr., Charleston, WV 25311.
