Judith Marlene Hawkins Obituary

Judith Marlene Crayton Hawkins, 76, of Shinnston, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord while surrounded by her family on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the United Hospital Center following a brief illness. She was born in Meadowbrook on September 22, 1939 a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Carpenter Crayton. Surviving are her husband of 58 years and high school sweetheart, Paul Eugene Hawkins, four children, Paul Robert Hawkins, Mark Hawkins and his wife Michele, Tammy Hawkins Greco and her husband John, all of Shinnston, and Kim Hawkins, Florida, six grandchildren, John Greco, II and his wife Briana, Nicholas Greco and his wife Chelsi, Fairmont, Shawna Hawkins, Rob Hawkins, both of Shinnston, Brittany Lane, Texas, Rachelle Hawkins, Shinnston, one great-grandson, Carter Hawkins, one sister, Sherrie Whiteman Baldwin and her husband Joe, one brother, Charles Crayton and his wife Linda, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Kim Hawkins, Larry Hawkins, Carol Kavolick, Loraine Hawkins, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Charles and Alice Crayton and maternal grandparents, Samuel and Sarah Carpenter, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Velma Hawkins. Judy was a graduate of Shinnston High School where she was a majorette. Paul and Judy started their loving home in Gypsy, WV prior to moving to Shinnston. They had many jobs and worked hard to provide for their family. In 1988, they pursued a new adventure and opened a restaurant, Pizza Express, with the help of their children. Pizza Express quickly became a fixture in Shinnston, and is still thriving 28 years later. Over the years, she considered many loyal customers and employees her family. Judy was a very giving, caring person and helped many who were in need by feeding those who were hungry. She was also a member of Jewel City Church, Haywood. She was a very important person to her family and friends and will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm on Monday. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 13, with Pastor Robert L. Shingleton officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
