Rena Martha Demone Obituary

Rena Martha (Ritcey) Demone, 83, of Martins Brook‎ died peacefully after a brief illness on October 2, 2015 surrounded by her family at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.‎ Born January 26, 1932, in Riverport where she grew up, Rena was the only child of Arnold and Lola Ritcey. Upon graduation from Lunenburg Academy she went on to study at Mount Allison University and then worked for Imperial Oil in Halifax until she met and married Capt Earl Demone, her loving husband of 62 years. She lived the busy life of an independent fishing Captain's wife during the early years of their marriage. During those years, she was wife, mother and business partner, often on her own, while Earl was at sea. Rena went on to a full life in Lunenburg, Halifax and Martin's Brook, raising her family, volunteering in the community and traveling in later years. ‎For those whose lives she touched, Rena will forever be remembered for her selfless and strong spirit, sharp wit and sage advice. Rena took quiet comfort and great joy from accomplishment; hers and others, particularly those of her family. Her finest days were shared with family, her greatest legacy, as everyone gathered around a well set table to enjoy a good meal and looking out over the ocean in the sun.
