Janet Pierce Waller, 87, of Winchester, VA passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Westminster Canterbury. Mrs. Waller was born on July 29, 1928 in Suffolk, VA; the daughter of Edwin Hammond Pierce and Dorothy Withers Darden. She grew up in Alexandria, VA and was a graduate of George Washington High School Class of 1945 and a graduate of the College of William and Mary Class of 1949. She was employed by Melpar, Inc., a local electronic research and development corporation in Alexandria and Falls Church, VA for ten years as the assistant to the personnel director. She married John Phillips Waller on January 17, 1959 at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA. After her marriage to John she was a stay-at-home Mother to their two children, John Phillips Waller, Jr. and Ellen Waller Chambers. Janet was involved in her community and church organizations doing various volunteer work. She was a lay Eucharistic minister. Along with her children, John and his wife, Lisa of Alexandria and Ellen Waller Chambers and her husband, Geoffrey of Bluemont, VA she is survived by her grandchild, Pierce Bailey Waller. Her husband, John and brother, Edwin Hammond Pierce, Jr. preceded her in death. In 1996, John and Janet moved to Westminster-Canterbury, Shenandoah Valley, and have greatly enjoyed the past eighteen years in Winchester. Donations may also be made to a charity of your choice. Services will be at a later date. Interment will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 2823 King Street, Alexandria, VA at a later date.
