Mary Annie Schnare Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Mary Annie Schnare, 91, of Schnare’s Crossing, announces her passing on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Second Peninsula, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Annie (Schnare) Acker. Mary spent her working years at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, followed by housekeeping for several local families, eventually retiring from Central United Church as a faithful and dedicated custodian for almost 30 years of service. She loved to cook and bake for her family who will miss her fish chowder and stews. Evangeline and Mary enjoyed many local dinners and shopping excursions together. Mary is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Dauphinee, Lower Northfield; sister, Evangeline Veinotte, Dean’s Corner; grandchildren, Denise and Devon and great-grandchildren, Allana and Haysten, as well as nieces Virginia Aulenbach and Karen Veinotte. She was predeceased by her husband, Merrill Roy Schnare, brother, George Acker, sister, Ruth Tanner and a niece, Sylvia Tanner. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, with visitation Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and where a service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Robert Zinck officiating. Interment will be in Martin’s Brook Cemetery, Martin’s Brook. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Martin’s Brook Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
