James W. Snyder

James W. Snyder, 80, of Dauphin, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at his home. Born in Hummelstown on October 12, 1934, he was the son of the late James W. Snyder, Sr. and Martha Shindel Snyder. Jim was a hard working man having started his first job as a lumberjack at the age of 12 in order to help his family, and later became a self-employed carpenter. He served with the Army during the Korean War. Jim was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Dauphin. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting; and a former member of the Hummelstown Field & Stream Association where he would shoot archery. Jim was an avid bowler and golfer. Most of all Jim loved animals especially his dogs which he rescued. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two wives, Sarah A. “Peggy” Stuck Snyder and Margaret L. Staley Snyder; one daughter, Linda K. Russell; one son, James H. Snyder; and siblings, Morris, John, Ruth, and June. Jim is survived by three daughters, Kathy A. Zimmerman wife of Randy of Indiana,and Barbara Marie Regalia wife of Dan, and Beverly E. Conley both of South Carolina; one son, John W. Snyder husband of Jennifer of Georgia; one step-son, Donald L. Jenkins of Marysville; one sister, Faye Stauffer wife of Ken of Hummelstown; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2015, at 2 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Paul L. Wentz, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. The viewing will be held Friday in the funeral home from 1 PM until time of the service.
