Richard W Stiver

Richard W. “Dick” Stiver, 78, of Port Matilda, passed away on Wednesday, September 02, 2015 at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on March 25, 1937, in Worth Township, he was the son of the late Lee and Maude Shilling Stiver. On February 25, 1956, in Port Matilda, he married Sarah Goss, who survives at home. Dick is a 1955 graduate from Port Matilda High School. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed building furniture for craft shows. He was a Forest Warden for many years. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, Pittsburgh sports, and Nascar Racing. He loved to attend his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a member of the Port Matilda Sportsman Club and Mosquito Creek Sportsman Association. He was a former member of the Port Matilda Borough Council, Port Matilda Fire Co. and Fraternal Order of Police. Dick is survived by his wife, five children; David Stiver and his wife, Connie of Bald Eagle, John Stiver and his wife, Barbara, of McVeytown, Chrissie Harter and her husband, Tim, of Snow Shoe, Tawnya Fedor and her husband, Michael, of Stormstown, and Brad Stiver and his wife, Shannon, of Centre Hall, and a daughter in-law, Lori Stiver of Boalsburg. Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren, one step grandchild, eight great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, two brothers; Rodney Stiver of Tyrone and Robert Stiver of Erie. Dick was excited to be expecting yet another granddaughter, Collins Luca Stiver, at the end of September. Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Stiver on June 24, 2015; daughter, Keppy, and grandson, John “JD” Stiver. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11am, at the funeral home with Speaker Samuel Reese officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St, #206, State College, PA 16803. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe.
