Anthony Michael Montuoro Obituary

Former North Cedar Street resident, Anthony Michael Montuoro, 83, of New Wilmington, PA, passed away the afternoon of August 24, 2015. Born on March 17, 1932 in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva Allan Montuoro. Surviving is his beloved wife of over 62 wonderful years, the former Joan F. Swank, whom he married on May 11, 1953.


Anthony retired from his job as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He also served his country as a corporal of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Anthony was a member of St. Vitus Church and belonged to the National Association of Letter Carriers and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He loved big band music, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.


In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by his children, Mary Jo Evanoff and husband David of New Wilmington, PA and Anthony Montuoro Jr. and wife Margie of Waynesville, OH, and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jacqueline Montuoro; brothers, Joseph and Thomas Montuoro; and sisters, Rose Baich and Mary Lint.


Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Blessing services will be conducted Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Father Larry Adams of St. Vitus Church. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites Friday morning at the funeral home.


Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
