Daniel Pinkham

Mr. Daniel Abram Pinkham, 59, of Waxhaw, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, at his residence. He was born February 12, 1956, in Palmer, Alaska to Lewis Irvin Pinkham and Lillian Grace Struening Pinkham. Mr. Pinkham obtained an A.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and a B.S. in Aircraft Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and studied for his Master's in Bible and Cross-Cultural Communications at Columbia International University. He was a full time Missionary with Africa Inland Mission for 10 years, serving as the Chief Engineer of their aircraft fleet in Nairobi, Kenya. He joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1992, serving at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw in various capacities. He also served as Chapel Speaker for Csehy Summer School of Music, where he was also a former President of the Board. As a member of First Baptist Church-Weddington, he served as a deacon. Mr. Pinkham was a member of the N.C. Military Vehicles Association and loved to honor Veterans with his military vehicles. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Sharon Ponyik Pinkham; sons, Daniel James Pinkham and wife, Laura of Newton, NJ and David Andrew Pinkham and wife, Emily of Roanoke, VA; three granddaughters, Lily Faith, Olive Joy, and Willow Hope Pinkham; his first grandson, expected to arrive in September; brother, Michael Pinkham; two sisters, Christine Hupper and Elaine Pitka. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy James Pinkham. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 22 at First Baptist Church-Weddington, conducted by Rev. Sam Roach, pastor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbia International University to the Cross Cultural Mission Endowment.
