Memorial services for Clifford "Rex" Minshew, 60, of Portales, will be announced at a later time. Clifford Minshew, known to his family and friends as Rex, was born June 21, 1955 in Plainview, TX to the home of Jolene (Dorman) and Donald Rex Minshew, and died at his home in Portales on Aug. 17, 2015. Rex graduated from Friona HIgh School in 1973, and went on to attend West Texas State University where he graduated in 1985 with a degree in History and Physical Edcuation. He taught high school history and coached football and track at Cress and Nazareth, TX before moving to Portales in 1999. For about a year after moving to Portales, he ran the Dora Service Station in Dora. In 2000 he went to work at the local Wal Mart store where he worked until his death. Rex loved sports, and knew all the stats on every sport. He loved watching sporting events on the television, and was especially interested in college sports. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Leslie "Nita" and Gene Richards of Dora; as well as his nieces and other family members. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
