Norma Lee Hickey Combs, 74, of Stephens City, VA, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Evergreen Health and Rehab. Mrs. Combs was born June 27, 1941 in Kingwood, WV; the daughter of the late Alston Lee Hickey and Lavada Alice Wilson Durgala. Norma spent her younger years in the Children’s Haven Home in Charlestown, WV. To her it felt like she grew up in a summer camp. She was a graduate of Charlestown High School. She worked at Lee Jackson Restaurant as well as Montgomery Ward, retiring when the store closed. She was a wonderful and loving mother and through her life she loved “many” as her own. She married Ralph Stanley Combs on November 25, 1961 in Hagerstown, MD. Along with her husband, Ralph, she is survived by her daughters, Terri Combs Armstrong and husband, Bill, of Lititz, PA, Brenda Combs Del Nero and husband, Vincent, of Apex, NC, Temple Combs of Stephens City and Sonja Combs-Brallier of Stephens City; her brothers, Steve Durgala and Johnny Durgala both of Akron, OH and Danny Durgala of New York; her sister, Mary Durgala Blomgren of Akron and her grandchildren, Nick Armstrong, Trevor Wilson, Spencer Wilson, Saleena Wilson, Scott Leake, Megan Leake and Seth Brallier. Her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Winchester with her son in law, Bill Armstrong, officiating.
