Millinocket – Elizabeth G. “Betty” Ferland, 86, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at a Bangor hospital with family at her side. She was born July 19, 1929 in Millinocket, the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Taylor) Oliver. Betty grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School. She worked at the Millinocket Shopping Plaza in the main department store through it’s many owners -W.T. Grant’s, Woolworth, Woolco, and Ames. Betty enjoyed playing Bingo, and was an avid enthusiast of any card game. She and her group of friends at Stearns Assisted Living spent many happy hours playing card games in recent years. Betty also enjoyed spending time with and hearing about the activities of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. She is survived by three children, James Ferland and his wife Verna of Sidney, Nancy Pineau of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Debra Dicentes and her husband Joel of Millinocket; six grandchildren, Michelle Warguleski and her husband Chris, George Ferland and his wife Chris, Scott Pineau and his wife Vicki, Cori Farmer and her husband Chris, Karen Tinkham and her husband Ronnie, and Sam Dicentes and his wife Amanda; thirteen great grandchildren, Miranda, Chelsea, Georgie, Nicholas, Christopher, Alex, Xavier, Zachary, Aiden, Andrew, Nicholas, Olivia, and Ryan; two sisters and best friends, Connie Jandreau of Millinocket, and Georgina Moore of Medway; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Betty will also be missed by a special nephew, Wayne Ferland, who always looked in on and paid special attention to her. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, George L. Ferland, and a brother, Lawrence Oliver. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, August 18 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Graveside services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 19 at the Millinocket Cemetery with Rev. Terry Given officiating.
