Gerald Geimer Obituary

Gerald F. Geimer, 70, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at his residence. He was born on November 22, 1944, in Adams County, IN to the late Francis H. and Mary C. (Schultz) Geimer. On May 20, 1967, he married Lounetta Agler. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He worked in the Maintenance Department at Thunderbird and was also a lifelong farmer. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and was an avid hunter. He is surivived by his wife of 48 years, Lounetta Geimer of Decatur; 2 sons, Jerry Geimer and Jeff Geimer both of Decatur; a daughter, Debra Cronenwett of Decatur; 3 sisters, Jane Lengerich of Decatur, Mary Lou (Lawrence) Ehinger of MI, and Ruth (John) Schirack of Decatur; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Geimer of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Daniel Cronenwett, Spencer Geimer, and Marissa Geimer. He was preceded in death by his brother James E. Geimer on July 2, 2015. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 1:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior in St. Mary’s Parish Hall from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Father Jose Panamattathil, V.C., will be presiding and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School.
