Millinocket and Appleton – Karen Marie Ellis, 52, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 28, 1963 in Lincoln, the daughter of Leo and Zelma (Voisine) Saucier. Karen grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1981. She went on to attend Mt. Ida College in Newton Centre, Massachusetts, graduating in 1984 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Sciences. Karen enjoyed working with animals, especially horses, and her dog, Abner. She was an avid crafter and quilter. Karen was a very quiet individual who did not enjoy being in the limelight. In addition to her parents of Millinocket, Karen is survived by her husband of 31 years, John Ellis of Appleton; two children, Amanda Ellis and her boyfriend Ross of Georgetown, MA, and Daniel Ellis of San Diego, California; siblings, Leo Saucier, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Easton, Keith Saucier and his wife Sally of Millinocket, and Kenneth Saucier of Millinocket; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Lisa Lee. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Thursday, August 20 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, August 21 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket.
