Charles R. “Chuck” Killian, 64, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015, in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Harrisburg on November 9, 1950, he was the son of the late Jack and Pauline Burns Killian. Chuck taught earth and science in high schools in Pennsylvania and Delaware, but was more recently employed in Public Works Waste Management for Fairview Township. He was a 1969 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School, and a 1973 graduate of Millersville University. Chuck was an active and original member of the Susquehanna Valley Evangelical Free Church, Harrisburg. He was a volunteer with the Penbrook Fire Company. Chuck enjoyed reading, studying rocks and minerals, traveling, and never missed a family gathering. He was type of person to always help others before himself. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a brother, William L. Killian husband of the late Anne. He is survived by his sister, Cherryl L. Good wife of Michael S. of Hummelstown; his nieces and nephews, John Killian husband of Mary, Michael Killian, and Diana Wahl wife of Jeff all of Missouri, Cathleen DiCello wife of Jeffrey of Palmyra, and Christopher Good of Hummelstown; and his great nieces and nephews, Dawn, Shawn, Morgan, Jared, Joseph, and Margaret. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Valley Evangelical Free Church, 6433 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111 or to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala-Cynwyd, PA 19004.
