John Potvin Obituary

Queensbury John Paul Potvin, 83, of The Villages FL., former resident of Queensbury, passed away suddenly on August 8, 2015, at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born on August 9, 1931 in Glens Falls NY, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Euphemie (Lemery) Potvin, On April 1, 1950 he married the love of his life, Marie T. McKernon, at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls and they spent over 50 happy years together until Marie’s passing in 2007. John was employed with the Pepsi Bottling Company, in Glens Falls, as Vice President, where he worked for 33 years until his retirement. He was a former communicant of Our Lady of Enunciation Church in Queensbury. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Glens Falls while he lived in the area. John enlisted in the Army and served from 1952-1954 and was stationed in France. He fought in the Korean conflict. He enjoyed Golfing as well as building things in his workshop. He also built three houses for his family. In addition to his parents and wife John is predeceased by his son, Stephen Potvin, his sister, Jeannine Waite and his son in law, Dennis Rourke. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Maureen A. Rourke, of Gansevoort, Noreen M. Potvin and her wife, Denise Sloane, of Fort Ann, Peggy Anne Seese and her husband, Ross, of Argyle; his brother, Lucien Potvin, of MA; his grandchildren, Rochelle Osakowicz and her husband, John, Shauwn Seese, Liam Potvin; his great granddaughter, Ania Osakowicz; his companion, Connie Trueblood, of The Villages FL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at, Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave Bushnell, FL 33513 at a later date.
