Fred Schultz

Fred J. Schultz, 63, of Decatur, IN, passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 2, 2015. He was born on June 12, 1952, in Decatur to the late Leo F. and Cordelia M. (Worthman) Schultz. On September 13, 1975, he married Ann M. Hackman. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Council 864, where he was a Past Grand Knight. He served on the Athletic Board at St. Joseph Catholic School and was also a basketball coach there. He was a board member for the Decatur Football League and was the freshmen basketball coach at Bellmont High School for many years. Fred was former part owner and operator of Baker & Schultz Bridge Construction. He was presently a Supervisor with Primco Inc. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ann M. Schultz of Decatur; 3 sons, Matt (Becky) Schultz, Greg (Emily) Schultz, and Keith Schultz all of Decatur; a daughter, Nicole (Jordan) Selking of Decatur; 3 brothers, John (Brenda) Schultz, Tom (Sandy) Schultz, and Bill (Kellie) Schultz all of Decatur; 4 sisters, Gerri Matheny of Tampa, FL, Mary (Danny) French, Jane (Mike) Beery and Joyce Schultz all of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, Sydney, Blake, Derek, Jack, Natalie, Daniel, Matthew, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, David, Mike and James “Barney” Schultz, a niece, Jennifer Beery and 2 nephews, Eryk Heck and Nicholas Hackman. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 1:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father David Voors presiding. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School Athletic Dept. or to Decatur Football League.
